Hi there,

Growing marijuana as a beginner can be hard. You'll encounter unexpected things during your first few grows. We see tons of silly mistakes being made, that could've been easy to avoid. I sure have made some mistakes that costed me a lot of green and grass.

The learning curve for growing marijuana is fairly steep, but it doesn’t have to be. The beauty of the internet is that we can share our mistakes so that new growers don’t have to go through the same trial and error struggles that we did. Let’s look at some of those common mistakes and tips for beginners.

You can make your grow easier by ordering different seeds: Autoflowers. Luckily for you I've dropped some new ones. Check out this potent and powerful Girl Scout Cookies Extreme!

Common mistakes
The list could probably be never-ending, but several mistakes seem to be made by just about everyone their first time. They include:

●    Overfeeding
●    Overwatering
Insufficient preparation

This cannot be said enough: do your research! We’re all good old-fashioned “lazy stoners” at heart, but getting there takes a surprising amount of hard work. Winging it will always result in time wasted (and worse: money wasted).

Overfeeding

Marijuana plants aren’t like humans in that they don’t love to eat as much as we do! When it comes to giving your plants nutrients, always start with a dose that is lower than you’d expect to work. Nutrient burn can harm your plants and be harder to bounce back from than starving them.

Overwatering

This is maybe the most common mistake of all. Everyone wants to baby their plants, but giving your plants too much water could cause the roots to have less access to oxygen. Plus, the wet soil could lead to mold and mildew (which could completely destroy your plants). It’s easier to fix an under watering mistake than an over-watering mistake.

Not taking pH levels seriously

It’s easy to ignore but so important that you don’t. pH levels affect just about everything -- nutrient intake, functions of your plant, and more. Keep an eye on pH the same amount as the temperature and humidity levels.

Being stingy

There are some things you can skimp on and others you really shouldn’t. The main thing you shouldn’t skimp on is your seeds -- good genetics are more important than almost anything else. Splurge on those seeds!

Other tips
Try growing just one marijuana plant to start, since it is low risk and high reward. Dedicating all your time to one plant will ensure that it ends up getting a really high yield -- and that means a really high return on your investment.

Also, prepare for transplanting your plants: that means buying a proper pot that will make it easier. Transplanting is risky and difficult at first (but necessary), so make your life easier by doing this.

These are just some of the things beginners should know when growing for the first time. But don’t worry, if you get stuck and need help along the way, we’re always ready to help on the forum here!
Happy Growing,
Kenny Rogers
